On the Existence of Hadamard Matrices

چکیده
Given any natural number q > 3 we show there exists an integer t ≤ [2 log2 (q – 3)] such that an Hadamard matrix exists for every order 2q where s > t. The Hadamard conjecture is that s = 2. This means that for each q there is a finite number of orders 2q for which an Hadamard matrix is not known. This is the first time such a statement could be made for arbitrary q. In particular it is already known that an Hadamard matrix exists for each 2q where if q = 2 – 1 then s ≥ m, if q = 2 + 3 (a prime power) then s ≥ m, if q = 2 + 1 (a prime power) then s ≥ m + 1. It is also shown that all orthogonal designs of types (a, b, m – a – b) and (a, b), 0 ≤ a + b ≤ m, exist in orders m = 2 and 2 ∙ 3, t ≥ 1 a positive integer.

On the Existence of Flat Orthogonal Matrices
In this note we investigate the existence of flat orthogonal matrices, i.e. real orthogonal matrices with all entries having absolute value close to 1 √ n . Entries of ± 1 √ n correspond to Hadamard matrices, so the question of existence of flat orthogonal matrices can be viewed as a relaxation of the Hadamard problem.
متن کاملWeak log-majorization inequalities of singular values between normal matrices and their absolute values
This paper presents two main results that the singular values of the Hadamard product of normal matrices $A_i$ are weakly log-majorized by the singular values of the Hadamard product of $|A_{i}|$ and the singular values of the sum of normal matrices $A_i$ are weakly log-majorized by the singular values of the sum of $|A_{i}|$. Some applications to these inequalities are also given. In addi...
متن کاملA note on the existence of BH(19, 6) matrices
In this note we utilize a non-trivial block approach due to M. Petrescu to exhibit a Butson-type complex Hadamard matrix of order 19, composed of sixth roots of unity. 1 A new Butson-type complex Hadamard matrix A complex Hadamard matrix H is an n × n complex matrix with unimodular entries such that HH∗ = nIn, where ∗ denotes the Hermitian adjoint and In is the identity matrix of order n. Throu...
متن کاملOn the non-existence of some generalized Hadamard matrices
A conjecture for generalized Hadamard matrices over group G of order p states that Hadamard matrix GH(p, h) exists only if the matrices In and nIn are Hermitian congruent [1], where n = ph and p is prime. References (4,5] document many parameter values for which non-existence is known to occur. Here, methods for establishing non-existence based upon a fundamental necessary condition of Brock [2...
متن کاملEquivalence of the Existence of Hadamard Matrices and Cretan(4t-1,2)-Mersenne Matrices
We study orthogonal matrices whose elements have moduli ≤ 1. This paper shows that the existence of two such families of matrices is equivalent. Specifically we show that the existence of an Hadamard matrix of order 4t is equivalent to the existence of a 2-level Cretan-Mersenne matrix of order 4t − 1.
متن کاملSigned Groups, Sequences, and the Asymptotic Existence of Hadamard Matrices
We use the newly developed theory of signed groups and some known sequences with zero autocorrelation to derive new results on the asymptotic existence of Hadamard matrices. New values of t are obtained such that, for any odd number p, there exists an Hadamard matrix of order 2tp. These include: t = 2N, where N is the number of nonzero digits in the binary expansion of p, and t = 4[-~ log2((p1)...
